Welcome to this course on Corporate Ethics!

Since we will be having five days of classes, let me introduce myself to you.  I am Kuruvilla Pandikattu (short form Kuru) and I will be teaching you corporate ethics.  My background is in philosophy and theology, and I have been in the teaching profession for more than 30 years.  For more details about me, you can find them at www.kuru.in

Assignment 1-2: 1500-2000 word assignment: Both individual (20 Marks)  and Cohort (20 Marks) 

Last Date: Aug 6 EOD

While writing the assignment, you may take one of the  5 small caselets that you had prepared and submitted.  Or you may take another case.

Make sure that the case deals with an ethical dilemma.


The Structure

Abstract: Focus on the ethical issues/dilemmas revolving around the case

and challenges faced by the protagonist to resolve the issues.


Background Note: (Context of the issue, Origin of the incident, Background

information about the individual/entity, About the victim, whistle blower etc..)


Performance with Purpose: (Standard policies/practices in place/ ethical

committee/ anti-harassment policy/ institutional values/complaint redressal

mechanism, etc..)  


Complaint made by the victim / Inconvenience/discrimination to the

victim: (Details about the incident happened, etc…)


Action Taken by Individual/Entity: (Retaliation activities, Legal implications,

etc.…)  Add also your evaluation from two theoretical frameworks.


The Aftermath: (Outcome of the incident, Lessons to be learned, etc…)

 

Concluding Remarks (Your reflections and summing up)


Assignment 3: The Ethical Dilemmas in Book/ Movie (less than 2000 words: 20 Marks)


Choose any novel or movie and look out for the ethical dilemmas present therein.  The structure could be:
