Dr Kuruvilla Pandikattu SJ (born 1957) is a Jesuit priest of the Dumka-Raiganj Province. Formerly Professor of Physics, Philosophy, and Religion at Jnana Deepa, Pune and Professor of Business Ethics at XLRI Jamshedpur, he is an acclaimed author of 37 books, editor of 33 books and has authored 240 academic articles. His work engages ethics (including business and applied ethics), science–religion dialogue, anthropology, artificial intelligence, life management, and transhumanism. Prof. Dr. Kuruvilla Pandikattu Joseph SJ (born 1957) is a Jesuit priest from the Dumka-Raiganj Province, he previously served as Professor of Physics, Philosophy, and Religion at Jnana Deepa, Pune, from 1996. Holding three master’s degrees and two doctorates in Philosophy and Theology, he has been a leading voice in science–religion dialogue, philosophical anthropology, and transhumanism. He has authored 37 books and edited 33 books and wrote 240 scholarly articles, organised more than 25 national and international conferences, and participated in over 100 academic events across 25 countries. His current research interests include Business Ethics, Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, Eschatology, and viable human futures. He has served on the editorial boards of five journals. Profile of Dr. Kuruvilla Pandikattu
Dr. Kuruvilla Pandikattu is a scholar working at the crossroads of physics, philosophy, theology, and ethics. He is currently involved in research and publications at St. Xavier’s College, Maharo, Dumka, in Jharkhand, India.
After his MSc (Physics), at St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirapply, he pursued his Master's Degree in Philosophy at Jnana Deepa and MPhil at the University of Pune. The he completed his Phd in Theology (on Bede Griffiths) at the University of Innsbruck in 1995 and PhD in Philosophy at the same University (on Paul Ricoeur) in 1996.
He served as a teacher for 28 years at Jnana Deepa in Pune, where he taught physics, philosophy, and theology, fostering interdisciplinary formation and intellectual dialogue. His academic work demonstrates a consistent engagement with questions of science, meaning, ethics, and spirituality.
He also spent three years as Chair Professor at the JRD Tata Foundation for Business Ethics at XLRI, Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur. In this position, he concentrated on incorporating ethical reflection into management education, addressing topics such as corporate responsibility, governance, and values-based leadership.
Pandikattu is the author of numerous books and publications spanning science, philosophy, theology, and ethics. His notable contributions include writings on Pope Francis, such as Francis Effect, Ethics, Sustainability, Fratelli Tutti, and Business Ethics, where he examines contemporary Catholicism, reform, and global responsibility.
